FIONA LEONARD
Bio:
FIONA LEONARD, OAM is an author, award winning playwright and filmmaker. She has published five novels and her plays have been performed in seven countries and in two languages. She is currently based in Düsseldorf, Germany.
She has been writing for theatre since 2014 and for film since 2020. She self published her first two novels and sold the second in 2013 - a political thriller called The Chicken Thief - to Penguin Random House. In 2022 she was commissioned to write a series of three action thriller novels for the US online publisher, Rogue Matter. The first of these - Ketcher: Death Wish - was published in September 2024. She has won numerous awards for her short film - Beyond the Trees - including Best Experimental film at the New York Neorealism Awards in 2021.
Most recently, in June she won a best writer award at the Short+Sweet Hollywood Theatre Festival in Los Angeles for her play - Seeds in Your Pocket - about the legendary opera singer and sword fighter Julia d’Aubigny.
